Ever ahead of the curve, the hedge fund industry's primo women's organization is turning to online social networking to keep its 10,000 members in touch wherever they are in the world. 100 Women in Hedge Funds, New York and London, launched 100WHFConnect!, a member-only, online network interface to its general membership earlier this month.

"The goal was to create a new interconnective platform that supports the three pillars of 100 Women in Hedge Funds: peer leverage, education and philanthropy," said Anne Popkin, the organization's chairwoman in an interview. 100WHF membership information and a link to the new platform is available at http://www.100womeninhedgefunds.org.

Especially important to the group's board is the easy link the platform provides for its far-flung membership, about 25% of whom live outside the U.S. and another 25% of whom don't live in the New York city/tri-state area, Ms. Popkin said.

Notable Achievements in 2008:

Continuing our Mission in 2009:

  • Continued growth of our Job Board, a free online resource to all our members, where you can post your resume, and where jobs can be posted and reviewed.

  • Development of a 100 Women in Hedge Funds secure online community. This initiative will provide 100WHF members a place to connect with each other globally through a secure technology platform. We anticipate the launch of this platform in coming months.

  • Our Give Back program offers members an automated solution for matching their resources (time, access, financial) to projects that will help us expand our successful initiatives.

  • Continuation and expansion of our Angels and Leadership Council programs. We rely solely on individual and corporate donations to underwrite the operating costs of the organization, so that we can provide educational events and other benefits to our membership at no cost.

  • Initiate new Peer Advisory Councils.

  • Host 100 more education sessions.
