Beneficiary Application Guidelines
Women's Health • Mentoring • Education
The 2010 Gala Beneficiaries for the US will be selected from organizations proposing
projects in the area of Mentoring services. Application deadline for the 2010 NY Gala Beneficiary
is December 11, 2009. Before submitting a request for an application please review the following
guidelines to determine if your organization is eligible. Applicants and their proposals must:
- Actually touch the lives and make an impact on real people;
- Fit this year's beneficiary category, Mentoring, (note that the category rotates among women's health, mentoring, and education);
- Have a concrete proposal that explains the specific project, the organization and its track record for reaching goals and successfully launching or expanding projects and specifically how the money received would help launch a project, expand services, and reach out to more people;
- In the US, have a national presence; this need not be a presence in every state, but refers to a project that is not limited to NYS, or that can be exported or replicated in other states within the US through funding from 100 WHF;
- Demonstrate the applicant's ability to use the funds effectively and productively (with information about the applicants overall financials as well as budgets for the proposed projects); and demonstrate how the funds would be applied within 12-24 months of receipt;
- For NY Gala beneficiaries, use all funds within the borders of the US -
no funds may be used overseas;
- Have commitment form their respective boards and benefactors to support 100WHF efforts, with concrete examples of how the applicant can help make the Gala event a success (table sales, auction items, celebrities);
- Have support from within the Hedge Fund Community (typically through board membership or significant sponsors);
- Not have a direct affiliation with any political party or religious organization;
- Not be for personal individual funding projects; the applicant must be a non-profit organization.
The beneficiary selection process involves 2 parts:
1) submission of a written application, which may be followed
throughout the Fall and early Winter with informal follow-up (in person or by phone or email)
with members of the Philanthropy Committee, and
2) a presentation by each of the finalists to the
100WHF Foundation Board in early Spring of 2010.
Finalists will be notified by February 2010 of their invitation to present.
All finalists are notified of the Foundation Board's decision shortly after the date of the
presentations to the Foundation Board. The Philanthropy Committee reviews and screens applicants,
but the final decision is made by the Foundation Board from among the recommended finalists.
We are in the process of finalizing the time table for the 2010 selection process and those dates
will be updated on our web site. To request an application, please
contact the Philanthropy committee -
to apply, your application must be received by Friday, December 11, 2009.
