Alicia Damley is an experienced capital markets professional and financial practitioner and with 25+ years in her fields. Her career expertise includes public and private markets, professional accounting practice, risk management, financial sector advisory, and academic experience, bringing a broad and well-rounded perspective to her roles.
Ms. Damley began her career in practice as a public accountant at Deloitte, with responsibility for risk and assurance services. Over this tenure, she also provided a broad range of advisory and forensic services to the financial sector including: trading floor and operational reviews, functional risk assessments, financial reporting and accounting standards reviews, and fraud investigations and resolution.
As an investment professional over the past 16 years, Ms. Damley has a strong performance track record both at large investment firms and her own fund, including double digit out- performance in the wake of the 2007 crisis. Active in both public and private markets, Alicia has noted expertise in portfolio management, public and private company valuations, and risk management, with a focus on the financial sector and its newly emerging disruptor space.
Ms. Damley also has more than 10 years as an educator within both university and professional environments.
PROFESSIONAL AND ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS
Ms Damley is a CFA Charterholder and holds Chartered Professional Accountant (Canada) and Chartered Accountant designations. Her academic credentials include an Honours B.Sc. and an MBA from the Rotman School, both from the University of Toronto, Canada.
Ms. Damley’s financial, risk management, and investment expertise has been valued at the board level for over five years. Current Board affiliations include: Chair, Audit Committee and Member, Executive Committee, MasterVoices; Chair, Finance Committee, Manhattan Graphics Center; Member, Finance Committee, St Thomas More; and President, Our Lady of Good Counsel - St Thomas More Parish Council.
Ms Damley is an active volunteer, focusing on women and education. As a financial literacy volunteer at High Water Women Foundation, she delivers classroom instruction aimed at middle and high school students, and young adults. Professionally, Alicia is an active participant in a number of initiatives of CFA Institute, CPA Ontario, and 100 Women in Hedge Funds. Alicia is also a qualified race officer, officiating at national and international olympic class sailing regattas, supporting women’s sailing including her daughter’s racing campaign.
