Carolyn Mazzenga CPA
Partner, Marcum LLP
Carolyn is Partner-in-Charge of Marcum & Kliegman's Family Wealth Services Group. This Group provides families who have substantial wealth with access to an enhanced level of financial management, specialized capabilities, and professional expertise. Carolyn is also a member of Marcum & Kliegman's Hedge Fund / Investment Partnership Group where she works closely with hedge fund managers providing personal and business income tax solutions.
Some of Carolyn's other accomplishments include structuring and developing Marcum & Kliegman's Tax Department as the Tax Partner-in-Charge during a period of explosive growth. Her ability to create and implement a host of innovative policies, procedures, and training initiatives has ensured a high and consistent level of quality work throughout the Department.
Prior to joining Marcum & Kliegman, Carolyn operated her own accounting and business consulting practice that provided services for small and mid-sized businesses as well as high-net-worth individuals. Much of her work focused on providing accounting and tax services for women-owned businesses. Carolyn's background also includes ten years of experience working for Coopers & Lybrand. She received a B.S. in Business Economics, with a concentration in Accounting, from State University of New York at Oneonta.
Carolyn serves as a Past President on the Board of Directors of the Long Island Center for Business and Professional Women. In 1998, this group awarded Carolyn the Annual Business Achievers' Award, honoring her for her accomplishments within Marcum & Kliegman and the Long Island business community in general. Additionally, Long Island Business News named Carolyn one of Long Island's Fifty Top Women of 2000 and 2001 and into the Hall of Fame in 2004. Additionally, Carolyn served on the Board of Directors of the Nassau County Girl Scouts, and she presently serves on the Finance Committee of the Girl Scouts of Nassau County.
As a Certified Public Accountant, Carolyn maintains memberships with the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. As a member of Marcum & Kliegman's senior management, Carolyn serves as a mentor for a number of the Firm's managers and provides specialized tax training for the staff. In addition, Carolyn currently serves on the Board of Directors of Long Island Cares Inc. and The Harry Chapin Food Bank.
