Kerri Leavay

Kerri is a partner with over 17 years of experience. She practices in the Firm’s financial services audit practice and is currently serving both public and private asset managers. She is the lead audit partner for a prominent investment advisor and recently served as a lead technical accounting partner for one of the largest global private equity firms and alternative asset managers. Kerri’s experience includes almost 10 years specializing in the accounting for complex financial instruments transactions. She previously served as a partner in the Accounting Consultation group in Deloitte’s National Office and practiced in Deloitte’s Capital Markets group. In these roles she advised financial services companies and Deloitte audit engagement teams on the accounting treatment for transactions involving investment partnerships and special-purpose entities, derivatives and hedging activities, securitizations and other structured financial products. She has been instrumental in developing Deloitte’s communications with the accounting standard setters and establishing Deloitte firm policies around these subject matters. Her experience also includes assisting companies with the implementation of new accounting standards, establishing accounting policies and developing related controls and processes.

Kerri serves as Deloitte’s Women’s Initiative leader for the Stamford, Connecticut office. In that role she oversees the execution of the firm’s strategy for the advancement and retention of women locally in Stamford. She is involved in several women’s organizations in the local Fairfield County and Westchester business community. She is a member of the 100 Women in Hedge Funds’ Connecticut/Westchester Education Committee.

In 2010 and 2011, Kerri led the coordination of Southern Connecticut not-for-profit volunteering activities around Deloitte’s annual day of service – IMPACT Day – where 51,000+ professionals across the country take the day off work to give back to their local communities. She was responsible for the strategic planning of community involvement events for more than 600 Deloitte employees in Deloitte’s Stamford and Wilton locations.

She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from The University of Connecticut, and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Connecticut Society of CPAs.
