Melissa Ko is Chief Executive Officer of Covepoint Capital Advisors LLC and serves as Senior Portfolio Manager of the Covepoint Emerging Markets Macro Fund. Previously, she served as a Senior Managing Director at Bear Stearns & Co., where she founded the Fund, then known as the Bear Stearns Emerging Markets Macro Fund. Ms. Ko has an extensive history as an Emerging Markets trader and investor going back to the early 1990s: importantly, she was one of the architects of the NDF markets, which allow investors access to non-deliverable currencies such as the Brazilian Real and the Chinese Renminbi. Before joining Bear Stearns in October 2002, she was a Partner at Blue Border Partners, an Emerging Markets Hedge Fund, from July 2000 to October 2002. Prior to joining Blue Border, Ms. Ko was a Director with Deutsche Bank in charge of Emerging Markets Proprietary Trading and was the Head of the Latin American Currency Desk at Bankers Trust. Prior to her tenure at Bankers Trust, Ms. Ko held various trading positions at Citibank and ABN-Amro. Ms. Ko received a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1990 and an M.B.A. from the Wharton School in 1994. In addition, Ms. Ko is currently a member of the MIT Corporation Development Committee, which helps secure critical financial resources for the Institute.
