2009 London Gala to benefit SHINE

Our third annual 100 Women in Hedge Funds London Fundraising Gala was held on Wednesday, October 7, 2009, raising a total of £250,00 for our UK charity of the year, SHINE, which achieves outstanding results in helping young people who are struggling to learn or have disengaged from the educational system. Through our connection with the UK Foreign & Commonwealth Office, we were privileged to secure as our venue the magnificent Locarno Suite - scene of the historic signing of the Locarno Treaty and many momentous state gatherings. Given the prevailing market environment, 100 Women in Hedge Funds had decided to forgo the customary black-tie dinner in favour of a rather more low key cocktail party, but the prominence of our guests, level of fund-raising enthusiasm, and bonhomie was as high as ever.
Mina Gerowin, Managing Director of Paulson Europe, received the 100 Women in Hedge Funds 2009 European Industry Leadership Award. The award was given in recognition of the kind of outstanding professional talent and business ethics that Ms. Gerowin exemplifies and that define and advance European hedge fund industry standards of excellence.
