About The Prince's Trust:
The Prince's Trust was founded in 1976 by The Prince of Wales. The Prince's Trust is dedicated to improving the lives of disadvantaged young people in the UK and helps them to overcome barriers and get their lives back on track. Through practical support including training, mentoring and financial assistance, it helps 14-30 year-olds to realize their potential and transform their lives.
There are more than one million young people not in education, employment or training. The Trust focuses its efforts on young people who struggle at school, are in or leaving care, are long-term unemployed or have been in trouble with the law. The Trust has become the UK's leading youth charity, offering a range of opportunities including training, personal development, business start up support, mentoring and advice.
The Prince's Trust supported 41,680 young people last year. They included: 12,770 who were at risk of exclusion from school, 8,960 through personal development courses, 12,150 young entrepreneurs through business start-up support, and 3,445 through grant to get into jobs, education or training.
Women's Leadership Group: influential women making a difference
The Prince's Trust Women's Leadership Group is an innovative fundraising initiative with a dedicated committee of leading, influential women committed to raising funds to help young women get their lives back on track.
Of the 40,000 young people The Trust helps each year only 15,000 will be young women. Their mission is to involve more people in the Trust's work and to motivate female supporters to help them help more disadvantaged young women than ever before.
The Women's Leadership Group aims to:
- encourage more young women to join Prince's Trust programmes
- bring together successful, dedicated women who are prepared to commit funding and time
- celebrate the achievements of young women, providing an opportunity to network with like-minded people at the same time
Their target is to raise £1 million over the next three years to help young people get their lives working.
