Mayor Bloomberg declares September 23 “100 Women in Hedge Funds Education Day” in the City of New York

New York, NY - September 25, 2013 – 100 Women in Hedge Funds (100WHF), a leading non-profit organization for professionals in the alternative investments industry, held its 400th educational session on September 23, 2013 and marked the date with a Mayoral Proclamation – read by former New York State Superintendent of banks Diana Taylor – for “100 Women in Hedge Funds Education Day in the City of New York.” Stanley Druckenmiller, Chairman and CEO of Duquesne Family Office, shared insights with over 350 industry professionals during an engaging interview with Paula J. Volent, Vice President for Investments, Bowdoin College. The event was hosted by Citi, in New York.

Stanley Druckenmiller, former manager of Duquesne Capital Management, an alternative investment fund in operation for 30 years before he closed to outside investors two years ago, shared his insights on a number of pertinent industry topics, including the role of women in the industry, the state of the hedge fund industry and the economy. In the interview by Paula Volent, Druckenmiller continued his recent criticism of the Federal Reserve’s plans to taper credit easing, saying there has been a missed opportunity to handle the issue properly. “Quantitative easing is an extraordinary measure to be used in extraordinary times, but it’s so unnecessary now,” Druckenmiller said. “There was a golden opportunity to cut back from 85 billion to 65 billion and they missed it. The removal of quantitative easing will be messy, and its adjustment will not be orderly whatsoever.”
