BEST BUDDIES SELECTED AS 2013 BENEFICIARY OF 100 WOMEN IN HEDGE FUNDS' ANNUAL NEW YORK GALA AND OTHER REGIONAL FUNDRAISING EFFORTS

New York, NY – March 4, 2013 – 100 Women in Hedge Funds (“100WHF”), a leading non-profit organization for professionals in the alternative investments industry, has named Best Buddies as the beneficiary of its annual New York Gala, to be held at Cipriani 42nd Street in New York City on November 13, 2013, and other 100WHF fundraisers throughout the United States this year.

Best Buddies is a global nonprofit that creates opportunities for one-to-one friendship, integrated employment, and leadership development for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). The nonprofit’s eight formal programs engage participants in all 50 states as well as in 50 countries around the world, positively impacting nearly 700,000 individuals.

100WHF's three core pillars are Education, Peer Leverage and Philanthropy. 100WHF's philanthropic mission is to leverage its collective abilities and expertise in order to give back to the global community, and to date, 100WHF has raised close to $28 million for charitable causes. Every year, 100WHF’s philanthropic theme rotates between Women's and Family Health, Education, and Mentoring. 100WHF’s Board of Directors then selects one charity within the annual theme in the US, UK, and Switzerland, respectively, as that year’s beneficiary for all regional fundraising activity. The philanthropic theme for 2013 is mentoring.

Commenting on the decision to select Best Buddies, Lauren Malafronte, 100WHF Board of Directors Executive Committee Member and Managing Director, Global Prime Finance at Scotiabank said, “100 Women in Hedge Funds is excited to partner with Best Buddies to expand such a unique and highly impactful mentoring program. We particularly appreciate Best Buddies’ philosophy, as our own organization is founded on connecting individuals and sharing experiences. We are proud to support an organization that truly makes a difference in the lives of those with and without intellectual and developmental disabilities.”

“We are thrilled that 100 Women in Hedge Funds has selected Best Buddies as its philanthropic partner for 2013 and are thankful for their generosity,” said Anthony K. Shriver, the Founder and Chairman of Best Buddies International. “We are extremely grateful for this incredible opportunity to expand our programs and reach more individuals, and look forward to sharing our mission of inclusion with its members and supporters.”

100WHF is planning a number of fundraising events in other 100WHF locations across the US during 2013. Firms and individuals interested in learning more about sponsorship opportunities, purchasing tables for the New York City Gala on November 13, 2013, or making a donation, please contact gala sales.
