100 Women in Hedge Funds announces 2016 new Global Association Board Leadership along with organizational changes

Sonia Gardner Elected Chair of the Global Association Board and Lauren Malafronte Elected Vice Chair

New York, NY - December 21, 2015 - 100 Women in Hedge Funds ("100WHF") today announced the election of new Global Association Board Leadership for 2016, as well as the addition of new Global Association Board members and Advisory Council members. 100 Women in Hedge Funds (www.100womeninhedgefunds.org) is a global, practitioner-driven non-profit organization serving over 13,000 alternative investment management investors and professionals through educational, professional leverage and philanthropic initiatives.

100WHF's Global Association Board elected as its new Chair Sonia Gardner, the President, Managing Partner and co-founder of Avenue Capital. Lauren Malafronte, Managing Director of Scotiabank, was also elected as Vice Chair, effective as of January 1, 2016.

Mimi Drake, President of Permit Capital Advisers, and current Global Board Chair, will remain on the 100WHF Association Board. Ms. Drake said, "I am honored to have served as Global Chair for 100WHF for the past four years, and I am thrilled by all that we have achieved together. Our CEO, Board of Directors, and the over 13,000 members of the organization are an impressive group, and we are truly making a difference in the financial services industry. 100WHF is well-positioned for continued success in all of our areas of focus, and I am delighted to turn over the reins of the Global Board to Sonia Gardner. Sonia will do a terrific job leading the organization, and we are very fortunate to have her in this role."

Sonia Gardner is President, Managing Partner and Co-Founder of Avenue Capital Group, a global alternative investment manager with over $12.5 billion in assets under managements focused on distressed and undervalued debt and equity in the U.S., Europe, and Asia with ten offices across the globe. Ms. Gardner is the Partner in charge of managing the firm, and distressed investing has been the focus of her professional career over the last 29 years. Ms. Gardner is also Co-Founder of Amroc where she was a Senior Portfolio Manager responsible for investing the partners' capital. Prior to co-founding Amroc as an independent entity, she was General Counsel and Senior Managing Director of Amroc Investments, L.P., the predecessor firm associated with the Robert Bass Group, Inc. In addition to serving on the 100WHF Board, Ms. Gardner was the recipient of the 100WHF 2008 Industry Leadership Award. She is also a member of the Board of Trustees of The Mount Sinai Medical Center. She previously served on the Board of Directors of the Managed Funds Association (MFA) and its Executive Committee.

100 Women in Hedge Funds also announced the appointment of two new Global Association Board members and two new Advisory Council members: Elaine Crocker, President, Moore Capital Management, and Sara McKerihan, Managing Director, Citi Global Markets, will both join as 100WHF Global Association Board members as of January 1, 2016. Christina Bodden, Partner, Maples and Calder, and Amanda Tepper, CEO of Chestnut Advisory Group, will both join the 100WHF Advisory Council effective January 1, 2016.
