March 27, 2012

Geneva – March 27th 2012 - 100 Women in Hedge Funds (“100WHF”), a non-profit organization for professionals in the alternative investments industry, today announced that All Special Kids (ASK) has been selected as the beneficiary of all fundraising activities in Switzerland for 2012. ASK runs programs for children with all types of special needs and learning differences aimed at enabling them to become a productive and independent member of society.

ASK is a Geneva-based non-profit organization founded by Joy Tong in 2003, which caters to children with special needs, their parents and family members and the education community. ASK C.A.R.E. program offers parents a forum to network with each other, much needed personal assistance, such as specialist referral services, educational assessment and coping skills workshops. They also provide a range of programs aimed at the children, including summer camps, study skills and homework clubs, and social drama clubs. Funds raised by 100WHF will help to expand these programs, specifically, the summer camps and homework club programs in Geneva, Vaud and Zurich.

100WHF's philanthropic mission is to leverage its collective abilities and expertise in order to give back to the community.  Over its ten year history, 100WHF has raised more than $25million for philanthropic causes. Each year, 100WHF’s Board of Directors selects charitable organizations in the US and Europe within rotating themes of women's and family health, education and mentoring. The philanthropic theme for 2012 is education.

In 2011, 100WHF raised over SFr 380,000 in Switzerland to open a fully equipped cardiac clinic and provide training to the local medical team at the University Medical Centre Ho Chi Minh in Vietnam. In 2010, it raised SFr200,000 to fund a mentoring project undertaken by Solidarité Femmes Geneve and in 2009 raised over SFr 135,000 for an education program of Association Païdos.

Commenting on the decision, Claire Smith, 100WHF London Board member, and Board Champion for Switzerland, said, “The area of special needs education is particularly close to many of our Swiss members and we are delighted to help ASK, which already has had such a positive impact on young lives, to expand and continue the excellent work they are doing.”

Joy Tong, President of ASK, said, "We are honoured to be chosen as the 2012 recipient of grant funding by 100 Women in Hedge Funds. Our mission of supporting the families of children with special needs and learning differences mirrors 100WHF's long history of making a difference through supporting organizations that focus on family health, education and mentoring. We are proud to partner and look forward to working together throughout the year."

100WHF is planning a number of fundraising events in both Geneva and Zurich during 2012, including its annual charity Gala to be held in Geneva on 7 November, 2012.  All net proceeds from Swiss fundraising efforts will benefit ASK.
