Featuring Guest Speaker Robert E. Rubin

NEW YORK, January 27, 2006 –100 Women in Hedge Funds held its 50th educational program on Wednesday night in New York. The event, which took place at Citigroup, featured former Secretary of the Treasury Robert E. Rubin as guest speaker.

Mr. Rubin addressed the group from his perspective as an investor, which was an interesting context for his insights on issues facing the global financial markets today. Topics he discussed included the urgent need for political efforts to reduce our nation’s deficit, the long run valuation of the U.S. Dollar given current fiscal imbalances, the impacts of global integration and opportunities in non-Japan Asia.

“We are thrilled that after four years of doing monthly events, we are still able to attract the high caliber talent that our membership base of more than 2,700 has become accustomed to.” said Amanda Pullinger, President of 100 Women in Hedge Funds, and a Partner at Aquamarine Capital Management, LLC. “We are honored to have Robert Rubin, an icon in the financial markets, speak at our 50th event.”

100 Women in Hedge Funds is a global membership association of more than 2,700 professional women who are in financial services careers in and around the hedge fund industry. The group’s mission includes advancing a positive image of the alternative investment industry, providing unique, high quality educational opportunities for members, promoting personal and professional advancement, and providing a productive, efficient way for members to make a difference through philanthropy or volunteerism.

Since its inception in December 2001, 100 Women in Hedge Funds has hosted free, monthly educational events for its members. “The goal of our monthly events, given our diverse membership, is to provide insights into an array of timely hedge fund industry topics and exposure to a varied, high quality group of speakers,” said Anne Popkin, Chair of the Education Committee for 100 Women in Hedge Funds and a Director at Financial Risk Management (“FRM”). “Past speakers have included Paul Tudor Jones, Nick Rohaytn and Tiger Alumni - John Griffin of Blue Ridge Capital and Lee S. Ainslee of Maverick Capital - to name a few. Topics have covered issues such as risk management, the business of running a hedge fund and the next generation of hedge funds.”

In 2004, 100 Women in Hedge Funds established several ‘Peer Advisory Groups’ where the organization spawns groups of practitioners in similar functional roles. In 2006, the association will host its sixth annual gala fundraiser and other small fundraising events. The organization’s philanthropic efforts have resulted in over $8 million raised for organizations such as the NYU Cancer Institute for Breast Cancer Research & Treatment, the Susan G. Komen Foundation, The After School Corporation, Big Brothers Big Sisters and the National Ovarian Cancer Early Detection Program at NYU Cancer Institute.
