TUESDAY, May 13th, 2008: Central, Hong Kong *
Topic: Geopolitics: Risks and Opportunities
The extent of damage in any economic crisis is influenced by geopolitics and the ability of governments to control damage and restore confidence. Geopolitical risk has intensified with financial globalization creating an environment of heightened sensitivity to decisions made at the national level. Political conflict, rising commodities prices, increasing inflationary pressures, risk of US recession, widening credit spreads, and new regional powers with global aspirations are some of the pressure points contributing to a significant change in portfolio investor risk perception.

Against this backdrop, we will discuss the biggest challenges and opportunities for Government Pension Funds and Sovereign Wealth Funds. Will they continue risk-based/liability-driven investing (as the global trend suggests) or act more opportunistically via tactical asset allocation?

One CPT hour will be credited to those who attend from 6:30 pm.

We will begin promptly at 6:30PM; please arrive early.
